Natural Building Solutions began as the construction division of Back to Earth (SW) Ltd. It was then purchased from backtoearth by Courtney Farmer, an employee of Back to Earth for 7 years. Courtney learnt his trade in Topsham restoring period and listed buildings most of which fell in the conservation area of this lively estuary town.
Natural Building Solutions now has a small but dedicated workforce with over 30 combined years of experience in the restoration and eco-build environment.
"Traditional materials with
contemporary uses"
Within a couple of years Natural Building Solutions reputation for quality construction projects meant it was much in demand for both traditional restoration work and new builds, with cob and lime the primary building materials.
Four years ago Courtney began to test out some of the new 'green' building materials coming onto the market. Only a few of them proved both practical and appropriate to modern construction requirements, and these have been regularly used in projects undertaken by the company ever since.
Natural Building Solutions has now also become a major installer of these new materials, installing them on some large projects throughout the south west of England and further afield. As well as providing information and consultancy for architects, developers and planners interested in their use.
The skills, understanding, tools and techniques acquired by Courtney Farmer and his team over the years makes Natural Building Solutions one of the foremost practitioners of eco-construction and traditional cob building in the South West.
